“Stop Comparing Yourself”

Updated: Jan 20, 2023

It seems as if comparisons have become our human nature these days. We can't stop watching others and what they're doing. But can I help you. Did you know that comparison is THE THIEF OF JOY! Yes it is.

Comparing tells us that we don't value ourselves enough to honor what God has placed on the inside of us. When we compare ourselves to others it leaves us feeling less than, unworthy, and just not good enough. It can be very destructive and the Bible shares over and again that we shouldn’t compare ourselves to others. When comparing ourselves to others, we begin to grow envious, jealous, develop anger, greed, gluttony, and often we begin to lust over what we think we lack.  Also comparison gets you off course. You become so obsessed with someone else and what they are doing that you've let what you're suppose to be doing fall by the wayside.

“Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.”

‭‭Galatians‬ ‭1‬:‭10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We must kill that spirit. And the way we kill that spirit is to let faith guide us and keep us strong. We kill it by decreeing the word of the Lord over our life. See you have to start believing and seeing yourself the way God and His word sees you.

Comparison keeps you from the plan and purpose God has for you. It tells your mind that you aren't worthy, or you don't have what it takes. And another thing it does is rob you of time. Comparison will have you watching others for what God gave you, and because you decided to focus on them they went ahead with the vision God gave you. Because you waisted time watching them and comparing yourself. Which in return caused you to not even start. Comparison is the stealer of time.

The Bible says this:

Walk in Wisdom

15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. NKJV

I want to encourage you to walk in the ways of the Lord. Stop letting this world consume you and your time. You have gifts and talents that God wants to get the Glory from. Scripture will remind you of what you carry. Somebody needs what YOU HAVE! Hear me on that I said what YOU HAVE! Learn to be content in whatever stage God allows you to be in. You don't need to compare. You are the apple of God's eye. He cares and loves you. And I love you too.

“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.”

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭4‬-‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Love it. Thanks for the reminder. It is imperative that we not covet or envy others.
